1. Getting Online at TU Dublin

This section of TU Dublin’s website contains links for students who are getting started with the University. These include guides to getting set up on Brightspace and Moodle, to minimum PC requirements to comfortably run all software associated with students’ respective course. You can visit your campuses VLE login via the links below.

  • VLE

TU Dublin uses two Virtual Learning Environments across its campuses. Blanchardstown and Tallaght use Moodle, whilst the City Centre campuses use Brightspace. These VLE’s are where you will submit assignments, catch up on course work and communicate with your lecturers. You can find your campuses VLE link below.

  • Student Software

TU Dublin students have access to Office 365, MathWorks, Microsoft Imagine, Brightspace, SPSS Office365, and Nvivo Office 365. There is also particular software available based on your campus and course of study. See what software is available to you here.

  • ’How to’ Guides

These detailed guides are helpful in getting you up and running at TU Dublin. These include guides on using your Outlook email, getting set up on Teams or connecting to campus WIFI, which is called Eduroam. There are also guides for using the printing service and resetting your password. You can view these guides here.

2. The Library

There are library services available across all TU Dublin campuses. The Online library is available all the time and accessible from anywhere. You can book PC and study spaces, access online resources and much more on the library website. There are also laptops available in the libraries for student use. The library website includes guides on how to use the library and what resources are available.

3. Student Support Desks

TU Dublin has 4 student information desks. Blanchardstown, Tallaght and 2 in City Centre. They’re available to answer queries and help with certain issues such as lost property and student cards. You can see details of all Student Information Desk at the above link. If your query or concern is IT related, you can visit IT Services for more information.

4. Grants and Financial Support

TU Dublin’s CAO Hub cover’s all information regarding the SUSI Grant application and other financial aid provided through government schemes and TU Dublin. Information on the Student Assistance Fund and Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD) can also be found through the above link.

A support grant made available from TU Dublin because of fundraising by students, staff and alumni, administered by TU Dublin Foundation on behalf of the President.

A short- or long-term laptop loan programme has been made possible by government funding and HEA to make laptops available to students in particular need of a laptop. Applications are generally open year-round, but supply issues may arise as the semester progresses. See link below for eligibility confirmation and other relevant information. Please note: Applications for the Laptop Loan Scheme are dependent on laptop availability, you can email your Student Information Desk for information on applications.

TU Dublin has negotiated a discounted purchase price for laptops from Dell and Apple available through HEAnet. Select ‘See All Offers’ to access the store. Search for and select TU Dublin on the campus list and login in with your Microsoft credentials i.e. Moodle/Brightspace log in. The terms and conditions can be viewed here.

5. Academic Supports

The Academic Writing Centre provides a free service to all TU Dublin students (undergraduate and postgraduate) who seek support to enhance and develop their academic writing skills. Consultations can be booked online from just before the semester starts.

The Maths Learning Support Centre offers additional support for students including help with specific topics and open drop-in tutorials that students may find helpful.

  1. National Learning Network – Blanchardstown Campus

The National Learning Network is an academic support organisation with an office based on Blanchardstown Campus that offers academic support to all students. Using a holistic approach, they offer four main strands of support: study skills, organisation, wellbeing, and social support.

The NLN currently only offer supports to students in Blanchardstown but do regularly run workshops for all campuses, which you will be emailed about when they are set to take place. Book a meeting with the NLN here.

6. Student Wellbeing Resources

Your success at TU Dublin is inextricably linked to your health. We try to create a culture that supports healthy choices and will empower you to actively look after your own health.

7. Career Development Centre

TU Dublin’s Career Development Centre is here to support you whether you are a first year settling in during your early days at third level or a fourth year thinking about your graduate options.

A range of supports and resources are available to aid your career development.

8. Student Engagement

At TU Dublin, we offer many opportunities to get involved – to make friends, enrich your experience, gain leadership skills, and have fun. It’s up to you to make your college experience the best it can be.
